Not out of the woods yet...

Ryan's still on the ventilator. He required a lot more help from the ventilator today--probably b/c all the fluid he got in the OR is now moving elsewhere, like into his lungs.  They gave him 3 doses of diuretics, which seemed to help and they were able to back off the ventilator settings a bit.  Today was all about rest--they were pretty liberal with the pain meds - just allowing him to recuperate.  Today, he acted like anyone would on lots of meds--he was pretty groggy, but responded to my voice by turning his head--he opened his eyes a bit for a while before going back to sleep.  Tomorrow will be a day where they start to push him a little more and  ask him to start working a little harder.  His eye exam on Monday showed some improvement, but not resolution of the ROP.

Nora- doing well at home.  gained good weight here since her discharge.  unfortunately, her eyes are worse than last check and she might need laser eye surgery--if her eyes get even a little bit worse, she'll need surgery to prevent blindness.  She has another eye exam next week and we'll know more then.

  1. Love to all of you. We miss you guys and are praying praying praying.

  2. "Lord, give Jessica and John strength to endure all that they have to go through right now. Be their rock."
    Love, Shannon

  3. We keep these little ones in our prayers daily - Hannah (age 8) is already a prayer warrior and loves praying for babies! Part of Psalm 34 that we are memorizing as a family:

I sought the LORD, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant,
and their faces shall never be ashamed.
This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him
and saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the LORD encamps
around those who fear him, and delivers them.

Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good!
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
Oh, fear the LORD, you his saints,
for those who fear him have no lack!

Praying that you seek Him, look to Him, cry out to Him, fear Him and take refuge in Him as you exeperience HIs deliverence, camping AROUND you and saving you! May you KNOW that God is good in all His Sovereignty. May you be able to display His glory to others as you are conformed more to the image of His Son through these trials. The trials refine us...praying that you have a sure foundation to go through all this.

And of course, we continue to pray for health and healing for Nora and Ryan!

  4. Praying always...

It's amazing to have two babies that I've never met on my mind so much.

  5. Lots of hugs and prayers from us. Ryan is a fighter, like his sister. I pray for continued strength for him, as well as for you and John.

  6. Praying! Goodluck! I hope everything goes well with Ryan's Recovery and I hope Nora's eyes get better as well but overall I wish them great health for the future.
